"Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

Greetings!

On behalf of the community of St. Mary's, I welcome you. You are welcome at this Church! At St. Mary's, our mission is to create a portal to heaven in this place, in our people, and in those who do not yet know Jesus Christ. This is a gravely critical mission in the time we live.

We live in an age of unprecedented material flourishing. In modern America, the average citizen lives at a higher standard than royalty did 100 years ago. We have access to richer food, quicker travel, more varied entertainments, and greater conveniences than any human beings in history. Despite this unprecedented material prosperity, many Americans are floundering in other ways. We are less satisfied with our overall well-being than previous generations. Unprecedented rates of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and suicide evidence this. Our more religious ancestors night have called the "mental health crisis" of our age a "crisis of the soul." As religious attendance declines, these symptoms of spiritual starvation increase. As a society, we have forgotten that both the body and the soul require sustenance to live. Neglect of the soul leads to its eventual destruction.

Our goal at St. Mary's is to alleviate the spiritual starvation of our time by making St. Mary's a portal to heaven. Our parish revolves around prayer and the glorification of God. We have a vibrant community where our members have a deep sense of belonging. We hold high standards for ourselves in our ministries, community events, and most importantly in the celebration of the Mass and other sacraments. Please join our efforts in this mission.

In Christ,

Fr. John Honiotes
Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church
